First, Some Good News:

Many of you probably heard the announcements yesterday about the new restrictions in Alberta. Our executive council met last night and had a lively, loving (and long!) discussion about how these changes will impact our Sunday morning services. The good news is that even under the current restrictions we are still allowed to meet! For that I am truly grateful. Stay tuned for an update from our executive council regarding the changes for this Sunday.

A Prayer Request:

As of yesterday there were six confirmed cases of Covid at Salem Manor. Please pray for all the residents, staff and families affected by this situation. And please pray for our seniors who live at Salem Mews.

I Need Your Help So I Can Be Helpful:

I consider it an honor and a privilege to serve as pastor here at Ebenezer. I’ve felt that way since I first arrived and if anything I feel that more strongly now than ever. I love my job and I love our church.

Here’s my request: If you’re hurting; If you need prayer; If you need a visit or a phone call; If you just need someone to talk to—please let me know. There’s no shame in asking for help when we need it. It’s what I’m here for and it’s what I love to do. But I cannot know how to help you if you don’t let me know how you need help. I've never once said no to a request for a visit or a phone call and I never will. So please don’t hesitate to reach out.

A Devotional Thought:

And Moses said to them, “It is the bread that the Lord has given you to eat.” Exodus 16:15

You know the story. The Israelites were in the desert and they were struggling. They were struggling physically because they were hungry and they were struggling spiritually because they were afraid that the Lord wouldn’t provide for their needs.

The Lord’s provision was both simple and profound. The next morning the people found a flake-like substance on the ground. The people asked Moses what it was and he said, “It is the bread that the Lord has given you.” Not only did the Lord’s provision meet their physical needs but it calmed their spiritual fears about whether or not the Lord was still with them and would provide for their needs.

Today we find ourselves journeying through the wilderness toward Canaan. We have great and pressing needs. Each one of us. We always have great and pressing needs but perhaps today we’re more aware of our needs than ever before. The good news is that the Lord has storehouses of grace that far exceeds our needs.

Is that a promise that we’re all going to live long and happy lives? No. It’s a promise that you and I have all we need to live faithfully today. And the same will be true tomorrow and the next day and every day until He calls us home.

And so I say to you these words of comfort that Moses spoke to the people of God so long ago: “Behold, this is the bread that the Lord has given you to eat.”

May you eat well today.

Your servant,

Pastor Jason
